Parents, Laura and Joe Marchese, and Erica and Dave Burkhardt met four years ago as their now 5 year-old daughter and son played in the street after dinner on their cul-de-sac in Branchburg, NJ.They engaged in conversations about their kids, sharing stories about the difficulties of maintaining play dates and signing up for local classes in combination with two busy working parents’ schedules. Two summers later both families sold their town homes as they both, ironically, added a set of twins to their families and meetings became more frequent at the local park.The subject of the conversations had not changed, but the desire to change the ending had ignited.The two couples knew that together they could create a place that would be spectacular, meeting the needs of all the different families in Branchburg and the surrounding area. They all shook on it one afternoon and committed to each other to make this dream a reality. They began extensive research, road trips to existing places, hired a professional consultant, and a business plan was drawn up reflecting the teams ideas.The concept of KID JUNCTION at Branchburg LLC is something that was born not solely as a business venture, but rather the birth of a new kind of child-powered environment. KID JUNCTION will grow and change as the community’s needs change, the Marchese’s and the Burkhardt’s are committed to KID JUNCTION being the greatest all-inclusive learning and creative play place in Somerset County.
